First Time Offenders Program (FTO)
The First Time Offenders (FTO) program is an research based educational program. This group is appropriate for an adolescent who has committed a minor offense. Schools, municiple courts, or Office of Juvenile Affairs are the main referral sources for the program. This group meets on a weekly basis for two hours, adolescents and parents are required to attend the group together.
The program focuses on the following subjects:
1. decision-making
2. emotional control
3. substance use
4. communication
5. morals/values
6. cultural diversity
NOYS assigns a counselor as needed to assist the youth one on one to prevent future involvement in the criminal justice system.
